Initiative aims to support the adequacy of companies that, according to the LGPD ABES Index, that only 40% are prepared to meet the requirements of the new law. President can sanction MP that begins LGPD term in Brazil on September 17São Paulo, September 10, 2020 - ABES - Brazilian Association of Software Companies has opened registration for the fourth class of the ABES ACADEMY General Data Protection Law: Fundamentals and Implementation course, which will be held in 8 classes lasting 3 hours, from 14 to 17 December September and from 21 to 24 September. Groups and members have a discount on registration. In addition to the course, as a way of assisting ABES members and the general public in verifying their level of adequacy to the requirements and requirements of the LGPD (Law 13.709), ABES makes available, together with EY, the Diagnosis of LGPD. The tool results in the LGPD ABES Index, which points out alarming numbers: about 60% of companies still do not meet the requirements of the new law. The platform has information from more than 1500 companies, of which only 40% meets the requirements of the LGPD. Among the responding companies, 30.5% have already suffered a violation incident in the last 2 years and 75.1% perform data collection considered sensitive. “The course will provide participants with important theoretical knowledge and, mainly, practical information for adapting the organization to the LGPD, highlighting the diagnostic steps, mapping the existing data held by the organization, defining procedures and processes, defining those responsible and governance. More than 80 people have participated in our classes so far and ABES is committed to contributing to the creation of a data protection culture in Brazil ”, explains Thomaz Côrte Real, the entity's legal adviser.

With a broad program, the course will discuss topics such as the fundamentals of privacy and protection of personal data; objectives of the LGPD; foundation of Data Protection; rights of holders, details of consent and legitimate interest; the role of the Data Protection Officer (DPO) and his functions, among other points.
