ABES's half-yearly monitoring report points to a drop in the number of ads removed, the result of an intellectual property protection program that has the association as a founding member

ABES - Brazilian Association of Software Companies removed, in the first half of 2020, 37,352 ads, links and websites with content that gave access to files that violate the Copyright and Intellectual Property of the entity's associates. The action has been taking place since 2005 and is carried out through the association's Internet Monitoring work. With this, ABES has already managed to drop more than 733 thousand illegal contents since the beginning of the monitoring.

This year's balance points to a reduction of approximately 15% compared to the same period in 2019. “This fall is related to the PPPI - Free Market Intellectual Property Protection Program, which we helped to found 18 years ago. The efficiency of this program caused the offer of illegal advertisements containing software on the website to drop dramatically in this period ”, explains Rodolfo Fücher, president of ABES.

PPPI is an important component of ABES 'objective, which is to assure our associates, a business environment conducive to innovation, dynamic, globally competitive, and above all ethical. Fully aligned with the entity's purpose, to contribute to the construction of a digital and less unequal Brazil, adds Fücher.

As of June this year, ABES accounted for 20,089 links removed for violating intellectual property rights. 17,210 ads promoting pirated products were removed from the air. In addition, the entity was responsible for taking down 58 websites that offered illegal software downloads.

The association continuously monitors the internet and directly notifies the e-commerce portals and access providers directly. This action aims to protect consumers, who may be exposed to viruses, malware and data hijacking. It also protects consumers who may be violating Brazilian intellectual property laws without knowing it. Companies associated with ABES can count on this monitoring service free of charge by forwarding any illegal content to the Internet Monitoring Sector.
