Since I know myself, I’m a patriot.

For a long time I walked with a shirt from Brazil, I was always moved when I heard the national anthem (and I am still moved), I always admired our natural beauties, the diversity of races and creeds, the receptive smile of the Brazilian people. It does not stop there. Our music, our swing, the sun that embraces us and the starry nights.

I saw Brazil grow and evolve. Open minds for innovation, for creating new solutions and so many other good things to appreciate. But, I confess that when I left the country, I realized that we have a lot to improve. Unfortunately, we are living within a culture of advantage and I say this in general. Our society lacks sincerity, a real concern for others, donating without wanting to have any advantage. I don't mean to say that we have to cancel each other out, by no means is that how I think. But. I see that there is so much left to be able to understand the real sense of collectivity.

Every time I see someone skip a queue, stop in a double queue, avoid paying something, hide information, think more about money than the good it can do to others, selling price and not value, I get very sad .

The other day, visiting friends in Switzerland, I was amazed to see that you can drink water from any tap, from any river. What are we, who have the largest aquifer in the world, doing with our rivers, with our water, the most precious asset?

Polluting a river with company waste, throwing mattresses, sofas, PET bottles, garbage and so many other wastes, certainly, will not help in the sustainability so supposedly desired by everyone.

It does not stop there. A basic car in Switzerland has retractable mirrors, speed signal according to the road, GPS, anti-sound control (the car maintains the course of the road if it realizes that you have changed lanes without giving an arrow, suggesting that you may have fallen asleep at the wheel, and even sends you a message to put your hands back on the steering wheel if you take them off) - and I'm not even talking about an autonomous car! Why doesn't that get here?

We go further ... there, at a wedding, after the bride and groom leave the church, the guests leave along the lines of the benches, respecting a line, without turmoil, with the greatest organization and tranquility. This is respect for others!

Sustainability is not only about keeping the city clean, but also about maintaining sustainable, respectful human relationships. The human being needs to be respected, but above all, also respect.

It should be obvious that you can't take a train without paying, after all, it is a service provision and, for it to be maintained, money is needed.
It should also be obvious that the passenger elevator inside Guarulhos airport should always be clean, which I don't think is clear.

Diverting money, disrespecting others, finding a way ... None of this makes Brazil a sustainable place.

Our country is beautiful, but it is being sold completely because we do not have the ability to take care of what is ours.

And it starts at the base: if we don't know how to take care of our streets, our walls, our trees on the front sidewalk of our houses, how can we want to know how to take care of our rich subsoil, our delicious and abundant waters?

Sustainability needs to be understood and practiced. It needs to be taught because, unfortunately, it is clear that we do not have this as a cradle.

So that we can learn from those who are better than us in this regard and copy, model ourselves according to the good ones, with those who know how to do it better than us.

I wonder if I will still be able, in this life, to see that our population really cares about their neighbor, about their friend, about themselves.

It is very easy to say that everything is bad, but, what does each one do to make it better? What act of citizenship, education and collective well-being do we do, every day, every day, so that this changes? I would say little, almost nothing, unfortunately.

When we are able to understand that the fruit we plant has to feed our people and then the leftover crop is exported and that the good can and should stay here (after all, this is self-esteem, it is respect for you, it is personal appreciation), then yes, maybe we will start to be more sustainable.

Of course, we have to export excellent things, but we also need to make our country an excellent place to live. It saddens me to see that there is more room for the ugly and wrong than for the right and beautiful.

But, I still have faith that my chronicles, articles and articles touch hearts and minds and make sure that there is a more critical look on the topic and that better actions are generated, by each one, and by all Brazilians and those they love this wonderful country.

More respect, more love, please!
