Hope

I was at home following the selection and, just after twenty minutes, a goal came! I vibrated and heard many of my neighbors vibrating as well. The energy of joy spread to the team and it went up. The game became more interesting, more dynamic, as every fan expects, isn't it ?!

The final score was 2 × 0 and soon the vuvuzelas, horns, flags, whistles and shouts of excitement for the victory of another stage intensified. But, from my office, a particular scream caught my attention and I went to the window to look.

I was a child of 10 years old, living in the house opposite mine. The boy was wearing a yellow shirt and green shorts. He had a green and yellow top hat on his head. He must have been an only child, as he was alone outside in the yard. His joy was so great, but so great, that his cries of “Vaaaaai Brasil” caught my attention. When he saw me at the window, he smiled broadly and shouted again, now looking at me: “Vaaaai Brasil !!!!” and blew his horn at length.

Seeing that boy's joy in steps that came and went in his backyard made me stop to think: Thank God there is still hope in the hearts of the next generations! Even in the face of so much sadness, so much neglect, so much violence, with no apparent solution, there is still hope! And I believe there will always be !!!

We grow up and get more tired, more skeptical of what changes can occur and, many times, we only see the international airport as the way out. But this boy did not show me that in that exact moment of victory: he showed me that we must never give up, that hope is renewed at every moment and that we must fight, yes and always, because the Brazil we love, with fertile lands, coast rich, blessed climate, IT'S OURS!

It is our right to live in peace, to be a prosperous, strong nation. It is our duty to fight for it to be so!
Today, we have a new generation that has peculiarities very different from my generation. Some I understand, others I question, but with all of them I learn, because I believe that we are in a constant movement of learning. And seeing this boy's attitude gave me inspiration to write this article.

If you father, mother, uncle, aunt, grandfather, grandmother have someone younger, encourage him to fight for the reins of our country, show him how big and strong we can be; teach him to interpret the national anthem and to love our flag.

If we do not cultivate our history and do not struggle to build a better history than the one we are living in today, the hope of this same boy, in about 10 years, will also be the international airport.

And, with that, the doors of our country will be wide open for all other peoples, because there will be few Brazilians around here. So, for you who are reading this article, think about it and do your part. I am doing mine by showing that there is still hope.
