We are living in an era, in which the search for happiness has been a constant. So I wonder: Weren't people happy? Or were they and didn't know? The big question is to understand what makes us happy. And this is very variable, from person to person.

It has been more than proven that being happy is not directly linked to the amount of money that we may or may not have. There are countless examples of people who survive on very little, but who are extremely happy.

Science has evolved a lot in this field and, today, it is already known that the brain, and not the heart, is linked to happiness. And being happy is a daily choice. I talk about it a lot, because I strongly believe in this truth.

I have read a lot about mindfulness and the way we look and pay attention to the events in our lives. This is a very interesting topic that I will discuss in another article. But, let's go to happiness!

This weekend, I went for a walk on the beach with my dog, a beautiful Labrador, who is already old. This was a dream of mine (and I imagined that it too) that, because of my life, I always let it go. On Saturday I looked at her and said: “enough waiting… the time is NOW and not tomorrow. After all, years have passed and it has always been for tomorrow! ”

I put it comfortably in the car and off we went for a delicious weekend on the coast. The amazing thing was to see that her happiness was simply being 24 hours by my side. It looked like my shadow.

I confess that running with her on the beach and throwing the ball so she could get it was MY greatest HAPPINESS. Even as an old woman, her vigor impresses and her breathless breath of intense joy still touches my heart to this day. I cannot measure her joy, although I know that she was very happy to be able to run freely on the sand of a quiet beach on a sunny day. But the greatest joy, I believe, was mine! And how grateful I am to have lived this moment !!!

Then, I stopped to analyze: how many simple opportunities we missed in which we could live and be really happy. Happiness is in the details, as I always say. And it can be trivial.

You know that saying that the less is more ?! It is true. And, more than realizing, making these actions real today, makes our levels of endorphins, oxytocin, dopamine and serotonin - the hormones that bring us happiness - multiply rapidly.

If you are looking for that happiness, look at your garden, because the blue bird (mention of the movie: “The blue bird”, from 1940), may be in your yard and you are not even realizing it.

Be happy today. Do not expect to resolve to be happy when you achieve something tomorrow, as tomorrow may not come, and if it does, you may have already put your happiness on another day, another tomorrow.
