At the opening, Andriei spoke about the main points of the Open Letter in Defense of the LGPD, which has about 40 signatory sectorial entities. “The law will not be effective and we will not have legal certainty if the National Data Protection Authority is not effectively created. We commend the publication of the Presidential Decree of August 26 of that year, an important advance in the structuring of the internal regulations and positions, but we need speed in the appointment and hearing of the professionals who will occupy these positions ”, he explained.

José Ricardo Veiga, Secretary of State Modernization, linked to the Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic, presented how the National State Modernization Policy was structured, which is aligned with other strategic projects of the Federal Government, including the National Digital Transformation Strategy , TransformaGov and the Efficient Management of the Union's Patrimony.

He highlighted the importance of the 10 principles of the LGPD and cited federal government initiatives to prepare the public sector, such as the Guide to Good Practices; an open Personal Data Protection course, developed by SGD and ENAP, available to public servants in general and anyone interested; and online training workshops on LGPD with the Information Technology Resource Management System (SISP).

The General Data Protection Act has been in effect since September 18, 2020, with sanctions taking effect in August 2021.
