The Business Front in Defense of the General Data Protection Law and for Legal Security promoted its fourth webinar, this time on the topic “Competitiveness and Legal Security”, on 10/20. It was also an opportunity for the participants of the movement to analyze the nomination of the 5 members of the Directing Council of the National Data Protection Authority (ANPD), carried out by the Federal Government on 10/16. The live broadcast took place on the YouTube channel of the LGPD Front.

The webinar speakers were: Rodolfo Fücher, president of ABES; Andriei Gutierrez, coordinator of the ABES Regulatory Committee; Angela Rehem, by ABEMD - Brazilian Association of Data Marketing; Fabiano Barreto, by CNI - National Confederation of Industry; André Sucupira, from Serpro; and Ricardo Almeida, spokesman for the National Confederation of Shopkeepers (CNDL) and SPC Brasil. Moderation was conducted by Mariana Castro, for the LGPD Front.

Proactivity and dialogue

Rodolfo Fücher (ABES) congratulated the nominees for the National Data Protection Authority (ANPD) and commented that the vote on PEC 17, which should establish the protection of personal data as part of the individual guarantees provided for in the Constitution, is still pending. "I believe that the role of the front continues to be extremely important and strategic in working with the dialogue with authority, to ensure the broad debate on the implementation and regulation of the LGPD," he explained.

Angela Rehem (ABEMD) reinforced the main points in defense of the general data protection law and legal security listed in the open letter from the LGPD Front and praised the Federal Senate's proactivity in starting the process of evaluating the nominees for the ANPD.

Fabiano Barreto (CNI) pointed out that LGPOD is a normative achievement and that any misuse of data must be stopped. "The most effective authorities are those who act as partners in adapting, mitigating risks and disseminating knowledge to organizations," he said.

André Sucupira (SERPRO) shared the experience of adapting the state company to the LGPD, as a team dedicated to the theme was formed, which helped in the establishment of work methodologies, the governance and training program.

Ricardo Almeida (CNDL / SPC Brasil) spoke about the commitment to help small business owners who are still very concerned with survival, due to the impact of the pandemic. Due to this scenario, this audience is not yet focused on LGPD and that MSEs will still have a lot of challenges ahead in relation to data protection and privacy rules.
