Data was released by the Ministry of Economy to celebrate the national day of the sector

Micro and Small Companies (MPE) won 65.5% of public purchases (approved processes) carried out in 2020. Altogether, more than 95 thousand purchase processes were carried out, handling a total of R$ 49.5 billion, according to the Purchasing Panel from the federal government. Of this number, about R$ 15 billion were contracted with MEPs. The information was released, this Monday (5/10), by the Ministry of Economy (ME), to celebrate the National Day of the MPE.

“This sector is the one that employs the most in Brazil and we work to further encourage the participation of this business group in public procurement”, says the special secretary of Debureaucratization, Management and Digital Government of ME, Caio Paes de Andrade. “Our goal is to transform the public procurement life cycle, making the entire digital process to facilitate the day-to-day work of both managers and public servants, as well as suppliers”, he adds.

The data released today include purchases made by the federal government and also those made by other entities of the Federation, such as states and municipalities, which use the Federal Government's Purchasing System (Comprasnet). “In September, Decree No. 10,024 / 2019 completed one year of existence. The new rules provoked the adhesion of more than 1,200 municipalities to Comprasnet ”, says ME's Secretary of Management, Cristiano Heckert.

Anticipation

Another measure of the ministry to encourage the participation of micro and small entrepreneurs in public acquisitions was AntecipaGov. In the last week, the ME released the notice for the accreditation of financial institutions. In practice, federal government suppliers will be able to use the contract signed with the government as collateral for loans or financing.

Currently, there are approximately R$ 56 billion in active contracts in the Federal Executive Branch that can receive advance credit through AntecipaGov. About R$ 12 billion are distributed among 6 thousand companies with registered capital of up to R$ 5 million.

The initiative was established by Normative Instruction (IN) No. 53, published in July this year.
