Project is completely online and connects students with job openings at the end of the course

With a history of supporting education and employability, which highlights its purpose of transforming the world by empowering people through innovation, Oracle offers 1,500 free places in its Oracle Next Education (ONE) program for partner institutions Gerando Falcões, PROA, FATEC Osasco, Bilingual Soul, Black Girls, Oi Futuro, Cloud Girls, Labora and Somos CIEE.

Launched in December 2019, the program offers, in a first stage, advanced courses in IT and entrepreneurship to prepare low-income people. In addition to training more than 2 thousand young people, the initiative also brings a great advantage: bringing graduates closer to job opportunities in large companies.

According to a study by the Institute of the future, between 75% and 85% of the professions that will exist in 2030, have not yet been created. The analysis of Big Data, Internet of Things, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Artificial Intelligence and the ability to solve complex problems, will require qualified labor with specialized training and a very practical basis. Thus, learning how to position yourself, expanding IT knowledge, encouraging the entrepreneurial spirit with new ideas and projects are basic themes that support the ONE program.

The main stages of ONE include training and connecting with allied companies interested in recruiting these new talents. The training includes online training of approximately 420 hours available to obtain technical content in IT, essential skills to improve communication, how to prepare for the job market and practices on how to innovate. On the subject of connection, clients and partners will consider program participants in eventual selection processes, since the job market is always looking for the professionals of the future.

Today there is a gap of approximately 300 thousand IT professionals in Brazil. Vacancies are not being filled due to lack of necessary expertise. With that in mind, ONE emerged as a guiding thread that connects people with little access to education, technology education and, subsequently, to these idle vacancies, thus reducing this impact on the market and encouraging innovation in the country. "Education is one of the pillars that we believe in driving the transformation of society. We want to contribute to this change and offer the opportunity for everyone to change their lives", says Gabriel Vallejo, vice president of marketing for Oracle Latin America.

New IT professionals

One of the students trained at ONE is Julia Santos, who saw the program as an opportunity to enter the IT area. Baiana, a black woman in her twenties, the daughter of a traveling father and a domestic mother, Júlia is the first generation of the family to enter higher education. Student of Information Systems, she finished the entire grade of ONE and applied for an internship position at Bayer. She was the only woman among the 10 candidates running for only three places - and she managed to pass successfully. She comments that 'being in the majority of the minority, she believed that integrity is an essential value to maintain and position herself in this context ".

Rosivado Jesus is another example that saw in the program an opportunity for career change. At the age of 30, he left Bahia for São Paulo motivated by a dream, to study technology. The high cost of the courses made him go to another area, but did not give up his goal. "I always wanted to study IT, but as the fees charged did not fit my reality, I decided to do electrical. Almost 10 years later, Oracle launched the ONE, and with less than R$ 100 I managed to realize my dream of studying what I always ", says Rosilvado.
