Four candidates for the 2018 Presidential Elections already have agendas reserved to participate in the Brazil 2022 Seminar - "The Future in the Digital Economy", on August 20, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm - which will take place following the 8th Edition of the ABES Software Conference – at Espaço Trio Pérgola, in the south of São Paulo: Ciro Gomes (PDT), Jair Bolsonaro (PSL), and Henrique Meirelles (PMDB), João Amoêdo (Novo) and José Maria Eymael (DC).

check out on here the complete agenda of the Conference and Seminar.

The event, which will address the contributions that technology companies can make to accelerate the Digital Transformation in Brazil, is organized by ABES – Brazilian Association of Software Companies, with the support of the main associations representing the sector:

ACATE – Santa Catarina Association of Technology Companies; ASSESPRO – Association of Brazilian Information Technology Companies; BRASSCOM – Brazilian Association of Information and Communication Technology Companies; FENAINFO – National Federation of Information Technology Companies, and SOFTEX – Association for the Promotion of Excellence in Brazilian Software.

All candidates present will be invited to present and comment on the study "The Future in the Digital Economy", which lists priorities and suggested public policies for Brazil to achieve its "Digital Independence" as early as 2022, the year that marks 200 years of Independence from the Brazil.

The document, which will be made public during the event, was prepared by Think Tank Brasil 2022, composed of some of the most influential names in the IT sector: Dr. Deana Weikersheimer; professor at FGV and lawyer with extensive experience in the software area; Dr. Dorothea Werneck, former Minister of Industry and Commerce and Labour; Marcelo Pagotti, former SETIC secretary at the Ministry of Planning; Patricia Pessi, former director of Electronic Government at SLTI (now SETIC) of the Ministry of Planning; Rodolfo Fucher, former director of Public Policy at Microsoft; and Vanda Scartezini, engineer and counselor at ABES, former Secretary of Information Technology Policy [SEPIN, current SEPOD] of MCTIC and former Secretary of Industrial Technology [STI] of MDIC.

Three other ABES executives collaborated in the review of the study: Francisco Camargo, President; Anselmo Gentile, Executive Director and Manoel Antônio Dos Santos, Legal Director.

The team of experts understands the 2018 Elections as a crucial point in Brazil's history, at a key moment to insert the country into the Digital Revolution that has been taking place worldwide, taking advantage of the opportunities offered by new technologies to generate economic growth and social inclusion with long-term public policies. The proposals take into account the sector's reality, in addition to the actions that are already underway locally and internationally, to then define measures aimed at leveraging the country's growth with ample contribution from the IT sector.

The name of the Seminar and the Think Tank allude to the Bicentennial of the Independence of Brazil in 2022, "Independência (Digital) or Death".

Five main points that guided the study are:
1. Digital Transformation will separate modern countries from the rest;
2. Digital Transformation is done through Innovation;
3. Software is the basis of Digital Transformation;
4. Startups are important in the ecosystem and drive transformation;
5. Clear and modern public policies for promotion and taxation are fundamental for the software sector to be able to support the country's needs.
